If you have ever stood in front of a serious gallery photograph, there is a good chance you were looking at a face mount acrylic print. It is the format serious photographers choose when they want their work displayed at its absolute best.
Face mount acrylic printing, also known as the Diasec process, is the finest way to display a photographic or printed image on a wall. And at Art Smiley Biz, it is a format we produce with the precision and care it deserves.
What Is Face Mount Acrylic Printing?
With direct UV printing, the image is printed onto the acrylic surface. With face mounting, the image is first printed onto premium photographic media and then bonded to the back face of a clear acrylic sheet using a specialist optical adhesive.
The result is a print that appears to float just beneath the surface of the acrylic. The acrylic acts almost like a lens, amplifying the depth and vibrancy of the image beneath it.
Why Face Mounting Is the Premium Choice
Face mount acrylic costs more than direct UV printing, and the production process is more involved. But for serious photography, luxury hospitality, premium residential projects, and high-end statement art, it is the only format that truly does the job.
The Face Mount Process
We print on premium photographic media, clean the acrylic meticulously, apply the optical adhesive in controlled conditions, bond the print, inspect the result under proper lighting, and often finish the back with Dibond or aluminium composite for rigidity and mounting support.
Sizes and Thickness
Face mount prints are available across our full size range. Most projects use 4mm or 6mm acrylic for optimal clarity and manageable weight.
Who Chooses Face Mount Acrylic
Fine art photographers, hotels, interior designers, luxury homeowners, and corporate clients who want the best acrylic presentation available.
